For as long as Castor & Pollux has been in business, we’ve been committed to feeding pets in need. We believe all dogs and cats deserve access to high quality natural and organic foods- even those waiting to find their forever homes. That’s why we created PetWorks Partners <http://castorpolluxpet.com/petworks_partners>. This program allows us to contribute to many different dog and cat rescue organizations around the country.
One of the organizations we work with, and the first one to sign up with PetWorks Partners, is Oregon Dog Rescue. Oregon Dog Rescue was founded in 2007 by Deb Bowen and Krystyna Schmidt. This all-volunteer organization has helped find loving homes for over 800 dogs. Since they don’t currently have an on-site shelter, they rely on over 20 generous foster parents who open up their homes and care for these dogs while they are in transition. They also receive tremendous support from Lexi Dog Boutique & Social Club, where 2-3 dogs are in foster care each week.
The volunteers at Oregon Dog Rescue assess each incoming dog for medical and behavioral issues prior to placing them in homes. Each pet is wormed, flea-treated, spayed or neutered, and given necessary shots. And ODR remains available for follow-up care for the lifetime of the pet. If you adopt a dog from Oregon Dog Rescue, you will be supporting a truly dedicated, passionate organization.
You can find Oregon Dog Rescue every Saturday at the Petsmart in Tualatin, Oregon. Take a look at the video below to see them in action.
If you’re looking to add a four-legged friend to your family, check out their website to see the available dogs, then stop by the store during one of their adoption events. (One of our Castor & Pollux employees adopted a dog from ODR last weekend! You can see Coco with one of her new family members in the photo above). And if you know a rescue organization that may be interested in becoming a PetWorks Partner, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
